Hammer & Chisel: Day 4

I know what you’re thinking.. Rest day already? It’s only day 4! I know, I know! I had the same thoughts as you and thought about doing some yoga but I didn’t and here’s why.

The trainer that co-created this program, Autumn Calabrese, said rest day means rest day, so NO activity! So who am I to argue!?

Ok but really, the reason the rest day is so important is because these are tough workouts! My muscles are taking a serious beating. The fibers in my muscles are breaking down and the only way to build them back up strong is to rest. Normally your rest comes when you sleep, but these workouts are so intense that you need another full day to recover!

So cheers to my rest day! Which I celebrated by sleeping in an extra hour!

My eating has been great today. Here’s what I had:

Breakfast: 1/4 cup of steel cut oatmeal, 1/2 cup of mixed berries, and 2 hard boiled eggs (pictured at the top)

Snack 1: 1/2 cup grapes and 1 tsp. of almond butter

Lunch: 1/2 cup of quinoa, 1 cup of mixed veggies, 3/4 cup shredded chicken

Snack 2: 1 scoop of Chocolate Shakeology, 1/2 of a banana, 1 tsp. of natural peanut butter, dash of cinnamon, 1 cup of water, and 1 cup of ice. Blended together in a shake!

Snack 3: 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, 5 baby carrots, 12 raw almonds

Dinner: 3/4 cup of shredded chicken breast and 1 cup of mixed veggies

Last night I had a light night craving to snack ( I’m always more hungry in the afternoons and evenings) but I didn’t snack! Hoping my cravings go away because I have a hard time resisting them before bed.
