I recently got back from a week long vacation and while I had every intention in continuing my daily workout regimine, vacation got the best of me.
Now looking back, that was probably a good thing! I had just finished 10 weeks of an intense workout program. Studies out there say it’s good to take a break every 8-10 weeks. I usually just do it when I’m feeling over worked which is why vacation probably came at the best time!
Taking breaks lets your body completely heal from all the hard work you’ve been putting in. It also helps prevent possible injury. It’s important for your body to recover.
After my week long break, I was eager to hit those weights! I actually came back more energized and ready to get back into the swing of things. But I could tell my body was actually recovered.
So make sure you take those breaks! I know it can be hard not to be in the gym, but your body and mind will thank you!
